The brief involved the visual branding, design and production of a suite of strategic visual communication materials designed to promote and add value to the fourth year design professional creative studio at the University of Western Sydney. One of the many problems that faces this studio is that it currently has no visual presence and that 2nd and 3rd years have no idea about, or want to continue their final year of study.
The objective was to create a visual brand that: » Expresses the professional standard of the students » Is recognised outside the confines of the university » Is fun yet professional
The name Rabbit Hole stems from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The Rabbit Hole is forever changing and expanding, is a place that is creative and unexpected. Not to mention, the studio is hidden away in our building, much like a rabbit hole.
We’re hopefully going to present this design to the head of school in the near future and go ahead with the final designs.

design competition held for the first time in sydney, in november ‘07 at the metro. 8 finalists head-to-head, wacom-to-wacom with 15 minutes to complete a design brief. this was my piece for the first round which won me the audience prize. the brief was to create a piece with the theme of ‘currency’ — 15 minutes isn’t a long time, but it feels like forever when you’re in front of a thousand people. mind-blowing is the only way i can describe the whole event, especially the other contestants, the guys from play and everyone who put this event together who were all absolutely inspiring. video here | info and pics here
